Make India Cavity Free – National Oral Health Movement
#BRUSHSMART #EATSMART #DRINKSMART #PLAYSMART #SMILESMART’
Reaching out to school children and educating them about oral health, teaching them healthy practices early on will create a wider impact.Once the habit is instilled in them, they can continue to follow good dental care habits throughout their lives and become the ambassadors of oral health. recently a Workshop to design a National School Oral Health Programme was conducted with Representatives from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Food Safety and Standards
Authority of India (FSSAI) NetProFaN, Government of India, World Health Organization, Dental Council of India, Indian Council of Medical Research, Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry, Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Indian Orthodontic Society were also a part of this workshop. Oral health is a matter of concern as 80 to 90 % children suffer from dental decay which is 100% a preventable dental disease. The committee framed guidelines for National School Oral Health Programme and launched National School Oral Health Guide that highlights the importance of children’s oral health and build lifelong oral care habits. It encourages children to take care of oral health and educate the parents and teachers on how they can be a part of this mission. As a part of this initiative, all the stake holders proposed to celebrate National School Oral Health Month thus making it the world’s largest movement and also plan to register this feat in the Guinness World Records. We intend to carry out this programme in both government aided and private schools and encourage participation in large numbers. In the first phase we plan to reach a target of 50 million children across the country and gradually increase our reach to 100 million.
